Duck Migration

by Nancy Holleran

‘Humans and animals migrate to a better location; each for diverse reasons. With the start of urbanization within the world, the balance between migratory animals and our ecosystem has become extraordinarily complex. The migration between animals and humans is symbiotic is many cases. These migrations affect not only other human urban areas but animals within those areas. As anything, life is a delicate balance between man and animal. Humans have the greatest impact with our changes be it cities or farmlands. Their expectation will be migrating to what they know unless we humans make profound changes within their environment. Feeding, reproductions and climate are critical to where they migrate. Some acclimate to changes and others do not. My painting takes a simple migration of birds to create awareness to this delicate balance. The landscape depicts a grey sky with autumn colors which is the sign of the season for duck migration. The use of Placrylics (plant-based paints) helps us all to continue creating art but not harm animals and us humans'.
